The Lima / Allen County community has over 200 faith-based and non
faith-based organizations that provide support services to Lima / Allen
County citizens. However, identifying and locating these
organizations can be a challenge especially when the need for services
usually arrives at a time when a loved one is in crisis. There is
currently no comprehensive directory of organizations that lists the
services that these organizations provide that is always current and can
be updated at any time.
The Community & Social Service
Network (CSSN) is an internet informational database dedicated to
linking citizens and human service professionals with social services in
the greater Lima / Allen County area. Agencies addressing health,
employment, government, emergency, and other services are just a click
away for those with internet access.
Lots of information
instantly!
Each agency's entry in the
database will include contact information and a summary of agency
services that can include a seamless link to the agency's web site if
available. By utilizing the search and keyword features, CSSN will
be able to immediately provide any individual, social service agency,
school, law enforcement agency, emergency medical personnel, etc. with
up-to-date information for immediate access or agency referral.
Not everyone owns a
computer
The staff at CSSN realizes
that not everyone owns a computer and/or has internet access.
However, the Lima Public Library, city and county schools, local law
enforcement agencies, Lima YMCA and YWCA, churches, social services
agencies, local colleges, universities and technical colleges all have
computers and internet access. In addition, there are future plans
to place computers with internet access in our neighborhoods where
valuable information can be at the consumer's fingertips of social
service providers when they need it the most: when their clients or a
member of our community is in crisis.
